April Skin Magic Snow Cushion (Black) SPF50 PA+++ #23 Natural Beige Review

We all have seen the most popular April Skin Magic Snow Cushion in the past few months, and its popularity is still ongoing until now. I am seeing their promotional pictures and videos literally everywhere, the product is claiming to provide a full coverage with just one layer. Immediate whitening, evening of skin tone and covering imperfections, who wouldn't want that?
Of course, just like any other gullible person, I am intrigued by the promotional efforts and always eyeing on the cushion because their advertisements amazed me. I finally get to own the cushion and experience its realness on my own thanks to BB Cosmetic.

One of the promotional photos from April Skin. As an acne prone person, who isn't captivated by this?? Photo courtesy of Lelong My.

April Skin Magic Snow Cushion features a Black and White ver. where Black is suitable for normal to oily skin and provide more coverage than the White, White is suitable for dry skin and for cold whether. This post will solely focusing on the Black ver, I haven't gotten the white version yet so I cannot do a real comparison.

Brief info and claims of the Magic Snow Cushion. Photo taken from BB Cosmetic.

Lets start with unboxing it first~ I like the look of the box, black and elegant, has April Skin Snow Cushion wording as the layout

I like the matte black feel of the casing, it has a radius size of 4cm (please, I measured with a ruler).

I got mine in shade #23 natural beige, which I think is the darkest shade available.

Opening the cushion~ the mirror is sealed with a thin plastic film that can be removed.

I love a fresh clean cushion puff~ it has a soft fabric spongey feel.

Cushion is sealed with a sticker when it is new

The cushion looked pale as if no foundation is being poured inside. I thought there was a little content.

But then after I pressed the cushion with my finger, the foundation rises up~ the consistency is liquidy. Photo above is focusing on the cushion.

Photo above is focusing on the foundation that is being picked up.

Swatch of April Skin Magic Snow Cushion in natural beige #23. I don't know but the cushion has some kind of a new furniture scent.

Picking up the cushion with its puff~ the puff gabs the foundation well. make sure not to push the cushion too much or else the foundation will spill annoyingly on the puff.

Comparison on my hand with and without the cushion. it really whitened my complexion. I thought that the natural beige appeared whiter than usual.

Another comparison. The difference is distinguishable. Even so, the cushion sits nicely on my hand that has a nice surface. Now, lets test out its realness on the face.

Just wanna keep you in mind that my skin is purging due to an incompatible reaction with Aritaum Charcoal Bamboo Mud Pack (story here). It happened 3 days ago, my skin was almost clear after battling with hormonal acne and its blemishes, I actually wanted to do reviews on this April Skin Magic Snow Cushion by that time but unfortunate things happen so it got delayed a bit. I was not feeling confident to do a face makeup review due to the purging.

Only yesterday, I thought that this purging is an opportunity to show the effectiveness and coverage of the cushion, whether it can cover imperfections well or not. So I built up my courage to carry on with doing a real review that involves a real face, real skin concern and real process. Theres always an opportunity behind every difficulty, ain't it? Haha.

Viewer's discretion is advised for the following photos. Im not sure if it will look gross to you but it looked gross to me. My poor skin hasn't been through this kind of purging lately. When it happened, it is always caused by incompatible reaction to new products. Keep in mind that below is my first impression review of the product, I am still testing the product in any ways possible.

Here is my right cheek for you guys

and here is my left cheek for you guys, this side is not as affected as the right side.

My full face with the cushion~ Now I am going to talk about the results in relating to its claims;

Flawless Coverage
Picture tells a thousand words, well maybe a few hundreds when I am out of words. As you can see, it took me 3 layers for the imperfections to be covered satisfyingly. When I first applied it, I thought that the shade goes on very white on my skin, the tone is distinguishable between my face and neck, it looks unnatural. First layer doesn't really cover the acne, blemishes and acne scars well, it was a light coverage. I was not satisfied so I carried on with two, and then three, which is my limit. I did try out with a 4th layer but it doesn't cover up so much anymore. A 'full flawless' coverage is achieved with atleast 3 layers. 3 FREAKIN layers. I felt so cakey. Do I want to go out with 3 layers of foundation on my face? Answered below.

Excellent Spreadability
It does spreads well since it provides moisture at the same time. The foundation being liquidy makes it easy to spread throughout the face. face does feel moisturized and hydrated throughout the use. The finish becomes dewy due to the moisture. I have an oily skin but I think it was alright, just don't moisturize the face too much during your skincare routine since this foundation will give extra moisture.

Easily Absorbs
Eventhough the finish is dewy, the foundation not smudgeable. It doesn't smudge when I swipe my face with my finger. The moisture capability is assisted by an island glacier water that claims to cover spots perfectly with only a small amount ----- less reddened spots, yes but spots that are too red, nah.

Beautiful Two Tones
Claims to deliver clear and transparency on an Asian's skin. This will only work for people with a clear skin (I envy those guys). Anyway, it evened out my skin tone too much.

Blocks UV Rays
Blocks 50+/PA+++ UV rays at the same time providing whitening and anti-aging properties. I understood why it appears soo white on my face. Not sure about how well it blocks the sun rays because I haven't been out for long while wearing this cushion, will do an update. I also need to update about its longevity.

Pros +
- Moisturizing
- Has sun block, whitening and anti-aging properties
- Easy to spread
- Doesn't smudge
- Buildable coverage
- Evens out skin tone
- No white casts
- No irritation

Cons -
- Colour is too white on me
- Doesn't provide enough coverage and doesn't cover much imperfections with one layer
- Only a few shades available, Natural Beige being the darkest

My rating
3/5. Its too bad that this product is one of the products that I am most excited to own, yet it doesn't really lives up to the type for me. It was an overreaction.

Will I purchase?
I don't like wearing too much makeup, looking cakey and wearing layers of foundation and also since the colour is a mismatch so the answer is no. HOWEVER, I will test it out again when my skin is almost clear, wondering if I will like it on the second time. I am also hoping that the light colour can be adjusted with coloured powdering. I will also see how my skin will look like if I only applied a layer and finish it off with a concealer. I still have hopes for this cushion to be honest. If it can't be saved then I might just give it away to my mom who have always wanted this cushion too and she is fairer than me, so it might just suit her better.

Will I recommend? Read the counter measurements below;

For those who likes a dewy finish, you can give this cushion a try. For those who don't and prefer matte finish, then pass this on~

Skin Types
Definitely recommend for dry skin people since this cushion provides moisture. I think that it suits all skin types, providing if you are not sensitive to its ingredients (haven't found its ingredients list yet).

Acne Skin
From my observation, one layer is not enough to cover acne and acne scars, you can see it on my photos above. But if you are alright with putting on layers of foundation then why not~

******27th June 2016 UPDATE: my breakouts have calmed since I started using Biore Acne Foam Wash. This time the colour blended well with my skin and do not appear too white since the weather outside is gloomy. I tried to apply the cushion with just one layer this morning. it did cover the light blemishes well, however it already appears cakey with only one layer. I think Imma just give to my mom....

*******27th July 2016 UPDATE: So I gave away the April Skin cushion to my mom last time. This morning I snatched the cushion from her makeup touch and tried it on my face light handedly. Note that at this time my face is clear from stubborn big acne. It appears on my face nicely without being cakey. I also did not press alot of the foundation, a little amount does provide a nice natural looking coverage. Now that my skin is clear, the April Skin cushion looks and feels nicer on a clear skin compared to acne skin where I need alot more coverage than usual. And also, the glow provided looks much better since the texture of my face is clear. I am considering of purchasing this cushion and ONLY use it when my skin is clear, acne-free so it won't look cakey. in conclusion, a little goes a long way if you don't wanna look cakey. Sorry for the inconsistency of the review, it is a first impression review anyway at the above. I like this cushion now! ^^

I also found out that the April Skin Cushion isn't refillable, the cushion in the casing cannot be detached at all.

LaF Skin 7 Solutions Ampoules x Adventure Time Collaboration Review

Rejoice, Adventure Time lovers!
Ofcourse I was intrigued when I saw this collaboration. To be really honest, I wasn't so interested in the brand before the collaboration come out since their previous packaging looked plain. I guess cute packaging makes it, huh?
I only asked LaF(Lost and Found), the company, about the Jake ampoule (Pore & Calming) since it is related to my skin concern, but they are soooo generous to send me 3 ampoules, 2 sheetmasks and couple of cute Adventure Time stickers!!!!! It was unexpected and my heart's content was (and always) filled with joy when I receive surprise gifts. Thanks, LaF! I use the stickers to decorate my boring laptop.❤
